Forecasters said the air quality will likely be worse during the afternoon and evening hours and may persist for most of the week. All that said, we do have a couple warm days to look forward to as forecasters are predicting highs of 7 C and 6 C on Wednesday and Thursday before temperatures settle on the cool side for the remainder of the week and weekend.Įnvironment Canada issued a special weather statement just after noon Monday warning of a stagnant weather pattern that allows pollutants to build up near the surface, leading to poor air quality. Still, when I hear Spring has sprung I tend to roll my eyes a little - I suppose that’s the pessimist in me. We’re never really out of the winter woods until at least May long, though maybe that’s become more superstition than reality of late. I’ve never been one to celebrate the first day of Spring because, well, I live in Edmonton.
